MARSHALL UNIVERSITY
BS SPORTS MANAGMENT
Seghers
Jane is an amazing X and O coach, one of the best in the industry. She knows how to get the best out of each athlete and each team. She is a competitor and a winner. As a player she was a beast as a coach she is a champ... medaling in 4 National USAV and AAU Championships and numerous USAV national qualifiers. She has coached over a hundred players who have reached the college ranks. Jane is well liked and respected by her players, families and peers. Jane is the consummate "Wing Man" ; she is most comfortable letting her athletes take the spotlight while intensely guiding, protecting and honing their skills. She assumes that same role in her life as a valued friend to many.
16 Head Coach
Danielle Cathey
Seghers:
Danielle is a passionate wife, mother, athlete, coach and nurse. She is intense and highly motivated. She values discipline, hard work and training. Danielle became a part of the Club South family last year with her daughter Annie who was an outstanding middle blocker. Aniie will be graduating this December to begin training at Lamar University. It became very clear that this mom and emergency room nurse had unfinished business in the gym. We are so excited to have Danielles passion and experience in the gym with us.
16 Assistant Coach
Jennifer Webb
Seghers:
Jennifer brings many years of experience and dedication to our gym. As I was getting to know Jenn, I reached out to a handful of people to give me further insight. Every person I spoke with said that Jenn was a great coach but an even better human being. I look forward to seeing how Jenn will help us grow our culture and impact our athletes. Jenn has nurtured and grown the Sante Fe volleyball program, one that is well respected and competes well into the playoffs.
Fun fact: Jenn, Danielle, Jenna and Meredith are a formidable "Mom Squad" as they all have college playing experience and kids who play for South.
15 Head Coach
Nikki Morin
Seghers:
Nikki is a beast. If there were such a thing as a ninja swiss army knife,,,she would be it, She is a gifted athlete, a gentle leader, a master at all things technology, a team builder, and a builder of young people. I have yet to find something that Nikki can't do. As an educator she champions those who struggle to help themselves, as a coach she helps athletes find their true potential physically and mentally and as a person and friend she is there for whatever you need.
15 Assistant Coach
Shani Vanterpool
Shani brings a wealth of volleyball and teaching experience to club South. She has experience coaching boys and girls, indoor and out. Shani is a true student of the game and is a sponge for growing in the sport. She is a tremendous all around athlete and technition.
Middle Trainer and Support Staff
Dr. Sasha Blake
Seghers:
Sasha is a redwood. Redwood trees stand very tall and derive their strength from intertwining their roots with other redwoods. While I think Sasha would describe her inner circle as small, I believe she might have one of the largest circles that I have ever seen. She has roots at the University of Houston where she worked in athletic leadership, in high schools across the greater houston area where she trained teachers and administrators how to de-escalate students in crisis and in gyms and classrooms where her mild mannered approach inspired kids to be their true selves. Fun Fact: Sasha is an avid dog, book, faith, music fan and is lover of all things family...one that stretches well beyond DNA.
14 Assistant Coach
Natalie Brannon
Seghers:
Natalie is an aspiring young coach who has an amazing passion for sports ,competition, training, discipline and hard work. She has all of the right tools to become one of the best in our area. She understands and values the role of fundamentals and specificity training and will work positively and relentlessly to see athletes develop. She is a true student of the game of volleyball and of all things sports. Fun Fact: I have come to see that Natalie chereshes these things: Faith, Family sports and food. She loves to boast and is so proud of her brothers.
13 Head Coach
Stephanie Robinett
Seghers:
Stephanie is a great new addition to our staff. I had the pleasure of training her as a high school athlete. She was a sponge and had an incredible work etthic...things that have enabled her to build an amazing resume and young career as a coach and educator. I ran into STephanie when she was working for Texas Volleyball in Austin. Her experiences there and with the University of Houston program have given her invaluable experience that she shares with her athletes.
Meet The Team
Toni Smith
12 Head Coach
Seghers:
Toni is a person that everyone needs in their life, you need her as a sister, teammate, motivator, and all things in between. She is a proud mom and has mentored so many young people. SHe inspires all around her to find joy in what you do and in each day. She motivates me to greet the day with a smile and to find ways to offer help and encouragement to others. Fun Fact: Toni had a pivotal role in the development of LSU All -American Brittnee Cooper who had a storied collegiate and international career.
Jenna Brown Hellpap
12 Assistant Coach
Seghers:
Jenna is the kind of person everyone wants to play with and coach. She is a "follow me style of leader", I like to talk about Jenna to our young players because there is no better example of what we hope the lessons of sports can teach. She is a happy mother of three young athletes who has worked her way through the corporate ranks as a leader. As an athlete Jenna had a following on the field and in the gym, now as a parent and a coach she continues to find a way to build a community. Jenna is a gifted listener and I am excited to see our athletes grow from her wisdom, experience and love of the game. Fun Fact: Jenna is a gentle giant, as a club player she could have been a youtube sensation.. somewhere I have a video of her l\hitting a ball down the line that took the defender completely off her feet.
Meredith Terrell Bell
Setter Trainer and Staff Support
Seghers:
Meredith is one of the best servers and serving coaches that I have ever coached and worked with. She was like a kid at the carnival picking off ducks with a squirt gun. Meriedith had a great high school, club and collegiate career and brings a wealth of knowledge to our staff. At Lamar Merideth was coached by the legendary Katrinka Crawford and also by Iowa's Jim Barnes. She sits third in all time aces with 173 and third in career assists with 4095. Meredith is a fierce competitor and will add tremendous value to our serving as a club and to the development of our setters.
